A 2015 Mazda3 hatchback prototype has been spotted testing. The Mazda3 is Mazda’s best seller, despite being one of the oldest models in the segment. Look closely at the camouflaged tester and you might be able to see Kodo styling elements.

The current car’s once-smiling face has been replaced with a more aggressive grille and sleeker headlights like those on the CX-5 crossover and 6 sedan. Also visible through the camo is the lower bodyline that kicks up as it travels toward the car’s sleeker taillights.

Details about the chassis haven’t been revealed, but the redesigned Mazda3 is expected to get the automaker’s full suite of Skyactiv technologies that include a lightweight chassis and efficient powertrains. A reworked version of the current car’s platform or a modified version of the CX-5 or 6 could underpin the 2015 Mazda3. While the 2.0-liter Skyactiv gas engine is already available in the current car, the new 2.5-liter Skyactiv gas or 2.2-liter Skyactiv diesel engine are possible for the new model.

Honda Cars : 2014 Mazda 6 Spyshots | 2013 New Honda Car Reviews 0

The official 2014 Mazda 6 reveal is just days away, and it looks like Mazda is putting the final touches on the all-new sedan. We caught this pack of camouflaged 6s hanging out near Big Bear Lake in California.

Considering that we’ve already seen the sedan in both sedan and wagon forms, the photos don’t hold many surprises. They do, however show just how much of the successful CX-5 will trickle down (or perhaps sideways) to the 6. We already knew that the CX-5′s front character line–the chromed strip that runs under the grille and up, through the headlights–will continue on the 6, but the CX-5′s spartan interior, with its long asymmetrical trim (shown here in piano black) and low HVAC controls, will appear on the 6 as well. It also looks like the midsize sedan will get the CX-5′s infotainment system with navigation by TomTom, but also get the rotary knob controller (a la MMI, Comand, and iDrive) that goes on European CX-5s.

Other than that, there’s little to report. We’d hazard a guess that at least one of those cars is powered by Mazda’s ubiquitous 2.0-liter Skyactiv I-4 (which makes 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque in the CX-5), since Mazda has already announced that we’ll see the mill in the 2014 6. However, it remains to be seen what–if anything–Mazda will slot underhood of the 6 for power-hungry buyers. Efficiency-minded customers will be well catered-for, as the 6 will be the first American Mazda to feature i-ELOOP and i-Stop regenerative braking and start/stop technologies.

The 6 will take to the stage at the Moscow Motor Show, which opens later this week.
