Extensive updates, lower MSRP and improved fuel economy provide premium crossover with added value.
The 2013 Honda Crosstour goes on sale November 20, 2012, with pricing beginning at $27,230 – a starting MSRP $525 lower than in 2012. Receiving extensive updates, the 2013 Honda Crosstour introduces more purposeful exterior styling, significant upgrades to the interior design and materials, and a more powerful, fuel-efficient Earth Dreams™ V-6 engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift control. The rugged new styling, teamed with class-leading fuel-efficiency and a lower MSRP on the base four-cylinder model make the 2013 Honda Crosstour the smartest choice in a premium mid-size crossover.

Standard equipment on all Crosstour models includes a rearview camera with guidelines, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink™, USB/iPod® connection, fog lights, one-touch turn signals and an Expanded View Driver's Mirror. The front-wheel-drive Crosstour offers two trim levels (EX, EX-L) available with four-cylinder or V-6 powertrains, with Real Time™ 4WD available on the EX-L V-6 model. Rich new exterior colors for 2013 include Kona Coffee Metallic and Mountain Air Metallic.

The 2013 Crosstour is one of the first Honda models available with the new keyless Smart Entry with Push Button start. The 2013 Crosstour also features Honda's LaneWatch™ blind-spot display, which uses a camera system mounted on the passenger mirror to provide an enhanced rearward view of the passenger-side roadway. Other standard visibility-enhancing features include the rearview camera and new re-shaped rear headrests.

The 2013 Honda Crosstour also receives enhancements on the safety front including available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW). Other safety upgrades to the 2013 Crosstour are designed to help it earn top IIHS roof-crush safety scores, as well as a 5-Star NCAP rating.

Powertrain
The two different four-cylinder Crosstour models, the 2-wheel-drive EX and EX-L, are powered by a 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC® engine. The four-cylinder models significantly broaden the Crosstour's appeal through a lower price point and EPA-estimated fuel economy rating1 of 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The 4-cylinder engine produces 192 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 162 lb-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm. A technologically advanced 5-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control is standard equipment.

The new available Earth Dreams™ 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine utilizes Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) to maximize efficiency, allowing the engine to run on 3 or 6 cylinders, depending on engine load and speed. For 2013, power output climbs to 278 horsepower at 6200 rpm, a 7-hp gain over the 2012 Crosstour V-6. Peak torque output is now 252 lb-ft. at 4900 rpm with a much wider torque spread. The net result is a more responsive engine across the rev range that drivers use every day, combined with better peak power for quick acceleration, passing, and climbing grades. The Crosstour V-6's new 6-speed automatic transmission also includes new steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Fuel efficiency for the V-6 is also significantly improved, with it now achieving an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy rating1 of 20/29/23 mpg on Crosstour 2WD models and 18/28/22 mpg1 for the Crosstour EX-L with Real Time™ 4WD. Compared to the 2WD 2012 Crosstour V-6, this represents a 2 mpg improvement in city/highway/combined fuel economy.

Body
Since its debut as a 2010 model, the Honda Crosstour has created its own unique crossover SUV identity with a distinctively sleek, sporty and fuel-efficient style. This continues for 2013 with a newly refreshed exterior that provides a more rugged, active, and premium look, while still concealing an accommodating rear cargo area with a large tailgate. An under-floor storage area in the rear of the vehicle adds even more functionality, while reversible floor panels accommodate messy cargo.

Standard exterior features on Crosstour EX include chrome door handles, 17-inch alloy wheels and P225/65R-17 all-season tires. Additional exterior features on the Crosstour EX include auto-on/off projector-beam headlights, a one-touch power moonroof with tilt, body-colored folding power side mirrors with defrost, auto-up/down driver's and front passenger's windows, and rear privacy glass. The top-of-the-line Crosstour EX-L V-6 model adds 18-inch alloy wheels with P225/60R-18 all-season tires.

Chassis
The Crosstour has inspired handling, thanks to its double-wishbone front and independent multi-link rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, and front strut tower bar. All Crosstour models include power-assisted ventilated front and solid rear disc brakes. For true utility-vehicle capability, the Crosstour provides 6.2 inches of maximum ground clearance in addition to the available Real Time™ 4WD system.

Interior
Premium interior styling, appointments and details extend throughout the Crosstour's versatile passenger compartment, which is further improved for 2013 with upgraded interior design and materials. Inside the Crosstour EX are automatic air conditioning with an air-filtration system (dual-zone automatic climate control on EX-L V-6), a 360-watt AM/FM 6-disc audio system with seven speakers, Bluetooth™ HandsFreeLink®, a USB audio interface, steering wheel-mounted cruise, audio and phone controls, an auto day/night dimming rearview mirror, an easy fold-down 60-40 split rear seatback, a hidden removable utility box and more.

Crosstour EX-L models add leather-trimmed seating surfaces with heated front seats, memory driver's seat and memory side mirrors with reverse tilting capability, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, Kevlar® cone audio speakers, front aluminum dome-type tweeter speakers, HondaLink™ with Aha™ compatibility, Pandora® Internet radio compatibility, XM® Radio, compass and outside temperature indicator (also included on EX V-6), and more. The EX-L V-6 model also adds a HomeLink™ transmitter.

The Honda Satellite-linked Navigation System2 is available on Crosstour EX-L models, and all EX-L and above Crosstour models feature an upgraded multi-view rearview camera with guidance lines integrated into the display. Real Time™ 4WD is available on the Crosstour EX-L V-6.

Safety
Crosstour safety technology includes the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, a Honda-exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. Additional safety equipment on the Crosstour includes Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®), anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, driver's and front passenger's side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, and active front seat head restraints.

Standard on Crosstour EX-L models is Honda's new Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems. FCW can alert the driver when a potential collision with another vehicle ahead is detected, where LDW can alert the driver when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use.

A series of visibility enhancements on the 2013 Crosstour can improve safety by increasing the driver's awareness of other vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles that are around the Crosstour. Standard on all Crosstour models, save the four-cylinder EX, is Honda's exclusive new LaneWatch blind spot camera. Other improvements on all Crosstour models include reshaped rear headrests that enhance rearward visibility, a standard rearview camera, and a new Expanded View Driver's Mirror.

Manufacturing
The Crosstour is produced3 at the Honda of America Mfg., Inc., East Liberty Auto Plant in East Liberty, Ohio. At its introduction, the Crosstour was named one of the "Top 10 Family Cars" by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. Consumer Guide then added "Recommended Buy" honors to the Crosstour.

Warranty
The 2013 Honda Crosstour is covered by a 3-year/36,000-mile new-car limited warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, and a 5-year/unlimited-mile corrosion limited warranty.

♦ Key Features of the Step WGN
Exterior Design

·
The exterior design features a dynamic square form that expresses spaciousness and comfort. It imparts a feeling of interior roominess and comfort, along with ease of driving.
·
The front mask imparts a feeling of unity between the solidly sculpted front grill and large-sized headlights, for an intrepid expression that suggests girth and presence.
·
The waistline has been lowered and the center pillars and rear quarter pillars colored black to create a sense of continuity between the rear quarter windows and the rear window, giving expression to a bright, expansive cabin.
·
The roof appears to slope rearward relative to the forward-slanting lower body, creating a dynamic side silhouette while securing space for the second- and third-row seats and the tailgate opening.
·
Nine color variations are available, including two new colors.
Interior Design

·
The interior design offers enhanced driving ease and ease of use for various purposes. It delivers an easy-to-drive, comfortable, fun-to-use space.
·
The dashboard features a horizontal motif, spreading out to either side. Three-dimensional sculpting is used to position the controls conveniently in front of the driver, while the instrument panel is positioned higher up and farther away, placing items requiring visual monitoring nearer to the driver’s line of sight with minimal re-focusing required.
·
The 3D, self-illuminated gauges are grouped by function and feature a three-dimensional, front-to-back layout. An ‘ECO ring’ changes color to indicate fuel consumption in real time, thus helping the driver improve fuel economy.
·
The urethane pads employed in the first- and second-row seat cushions have been made softer and upholstered with high-elasticity material for improved fit and seating comfort.
·
A wooden-style floor in the second and third rows, available as a factory option*9, gives the interior the feel of a living room.

*9
Available on the G•L Package, L, and Spada S and Z FWD types
Powertrain

·
The 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine combines powerful low-end torque with comfortable driving performance. In addition to controlling valve timing, the variable intake system also uses DBW (Drive-By-Wire) to select the optimum throttle valve opening, achieving a significant decrease in pumping losses due to intake resistance. This results in a major improvement in fuel economy.
·
The torque converter-equipped CVT delivers outstanding fuel economy along with smooth driving free of shift shock, responding fluidly to the driver’s needs across a wide range of driving conditions.
·
Enhanced engine and transmission performance and lightening throughout contribute to improved fuel economy, while ECON mode further contributes to improved real-world fuel economy.
Packaging

·
Built on a low-floor, low-center-of-gravity package, the new Step WGN’s overall height has been increased by 45mm to achieve the roomiest cabin interior in its class*1, with a cabin height of 1,395mm*6. Head clearance has been significantly increased in all three rows, contributing a relaxed feel while driving and greater ease of movement within the cabin.
·
Overall length has been increased by 50mm*5 and the rear pillar oriented vertically, creating a longer cabin. The result is a best in class*1 3,095mm long cabin, with increased tandem distance between the first- and second-row seats.
·
Innovations to rear floor construction, including a broadly curving rear frame that extends from behind the rear wheels to the outer extremities of the body, open up enough space to allow the third-row seats to be stored flat under the floor, creating a spacious cargo area.
·
Window area has been expanded by extending the side windows vertically and the rear quarter windows to the rear, augmenting the visual sense of spaciousness.
·
A wider roof with optimized positioning of roof-side structural components creates enough space for a sky roof*7 that, at 1,400mm long by 840mm wide (internal dimensions), features a total glass area among the largest in the world*8.
Utility

·
Under-floor storage for third-row seats results in a flat, easy to use cargo area, allowing bicycles or other large objects to be loaded more easily.
·
The cargo area floor has been lowered and the height and width of the tailgate opening increased to create a squarer-shaped opening for outstanding convenience.
·
The standard second-row 6:4-split tumble seats feature a one-motion design that allows the seat back to be folded down and then the seat to be flipped up, simply by pulling on either the seat-side reclining lever or the strap located on the back of the seat. The seats can be set to a variety of configurations with a few simple operations. And, with the 6:4-split, tip-up and slide seats, available as a factory option, the center portion of the second-row seat can be folded away to enable smooth passage from the first- to the third-row seats*9.
·
A full complement of storage compartments, including a convenient, oversized tray on the dashboard that starts at the center and extends toward the passenger side, further enhances ease of use.
·
The new Step WGN is easier to get in and out of than ever, with a wider slide-door opening to complement the low-floor design that allows passengers to enter the second-row seating area with a single step.
·
Visibility has been improved thanks to a cross-sectional shape for the front pillar that makes it appear thinner to the driver and lowering the lower edge of the front door window by 25mm. Larger rear quarter windows and rear windows further enhance the all-around broad, panoramic view.
Body

·
Front-end rigidity has been improved through such measures as adding closed cross-section materials to connect the front bulkhead to the upper frame and employing a closed cross-sectional configuration for the shock absorber attachments.
·
Rigidity of the rear shock absorber attachments has been improved by surrounding the rear shock absorber housing with the rear frame.
·
Transmission of vibrations to the cabin area has been effectively controlled by reducing sources of noise and vibration and increasing overall body and chassis rigidity. Other measures, including acoustic pressure control in body panels used to eliminate cabin hum and expanded use of sound damping and insulating materials, achieve outstanding interior quietness.
Chassis

·
The front suspension features McPherson struts for their outstanding space efficiency, which contributes to the short-nose design.
·
The rear employs an H-shaped torsion beam suspension with a compact design that plays a major role in realizing the low-floor, low-center-of-gravity platform.
·
Despite its long wheelbase, the all-new Step WGN features a best in class*1 minimum turning radius of 5.3m. Combined with EPS (Electric Power Steering), this provides superb maneuverability that facilitates smooth navigation of tight parking areas and narrow roads.
Advanced Features

·
The Active Front lighting System (AFS) improves the driver’s sense of security while cornering at night by pointing the headlight units in the direction of the turn to illuminate the path of vehicle travel. Availability depends on type*10.
·
The Hill-Start Assist function temporarily maintains brake pressure after the brake pedal is released when starting on a hill to ensure smoother starts and prevent the vehicle from rolling backward*11.
·
A side-view support mirror shows road surface conditions up to 7m in front of the left-front wheel, increasing the driver’s sense of security when parallel parking or navigating narrow roads.
·
A multi-view camera system uses cameras to provide views of surrounding areas to support comfortable and safe driving. Availability depends on type*12.

Honda Cars : New Teaser Released For 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour | 2013 New Honda Car Reviews 0

Honda Wagon

Its been official since early July that the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour will arrive in showrooms this fall. But now Honda is running a teaser and countdown on its Future Cars site for the upcoming crossover/tourer previewing a September 1 'sneak preview' date, and it has also released a second teaser - a close crop of the headlight - via its Facebook page. The previous teaser showed part of the grille.

In July's brief press release, Honda said the new vehicle will go on sale later this year. No other details were released, but spy shots show the new crossover has much in common with that other Japanese sedan-wagon combo, the 2009 Toyota Venza.

The most likely powertrain options will be the current 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V-6 engines from the Accord, although the 2.3-liter turbocharged unit from the Acura RDX may also make a showing. A rear differential seen on prototypes confirm that the Crosstour will be equipped with an AWD system, at least as an option.

Unlike its Acura cousin the ZDX, however, the Crosstour appears to be shunning the four-door 'activity coupe' profile for a more conventional 'tall wagon' look.

The new crossover will fit neatly in the Honda lineup above the CR-V and Element, and beneath the big Pilot SUV. There's no word on pricing nor any official photos, but TheCarConnection will drive the new Crosstour later this year.

Below is the previous teaser....

Honda Cars : Autoblog; Geneva 2009: Honda Accord Tourer Type-S (a sneak peak at our upcoming Accord CUV Wagon?) | 2013 New Honda Car Reviews 0

Unknown | 6:57 AM
Honda Wagon
Honda Wagon

Judging by the 'spyshots' of the Accord CUV Wagon that we in North America are getting for September 2009, this is going to be a sharp indication of what it will look like. Expect the North American Accord's nose and with a 4 wheel drive option, the vehicle will probably sit a little higher.
The car pictured above represents some of my favorite features in a main-stream car: it's a wagon and it's a diesel. I'm also fully aware that I am in a distinct minority on both counts among drivers in the U.S. market. This is the new European-market Honda Accord Tourer Type-S. We get the sedan version in the U.S., badged as the Acura TSX. Personally, I prefer the wagon version because it retains the overall size and dynamic characteristics of a sedan while adding a huge dollop of utility when needed. It's also quite a handsome car. Rumor has it we'll see this body style appear as a new Honda CUV in the states this fall with the high-riding Outback treatment. The wagon is not new to Europe but the new Type-S (also available as a sedan) is.

The Type-S Accord gets a 178 hp version of Honda's new iDTEC 2.2L diesel four cylinder with a stiff 280 lb-ft of torque. The Type-S gets larger 18" wheels and bumper and sill extensions for a more aggressive look. Unfortunately, this is very likely the car we were supposed to get as a TSX this year. However, market conditions have forced Honda to indefinitely cancel those plans. What a shame.
